Best Domain Name Ever
When you see emails in the queue from <smith@ghfgghfghfghfghcghdcghghfghfghcfghfhfghfghfghfghghhfhfhfgfgh.com> one might be understandably suspicious about whether that's a legitimate domain name or not.
Turns out...
Yosemite sucks, but there's a workaround...
Yosemite can't copy our DNS backups into a test server because it has a different name. That's quality program design right there.
So here's a helpful set of three commands that does exactly that:
DNS blackhole lookups
I got bored after work and thought I'd take a crack at cleaning up the first Perl script I wrote.
It's handy for spot-checking whether an IP is on any of a specified list of DNS blackhole sites.
DNS comings and goings
Since Rogers Cable has started hijacking invalid DNS lookups with their sponsored search results page, I decided that it was time to start investigating what other options are out there. Interestingly enough, the DNS provider (OpenDNS) that I settled on does the same thing, but the stats and reporting that they provide in return more than make up for it.
